it does float!

and to think that Up was just a cartoon.. with the right amount of science thinking, it can actually be done! i wonder what it really feels like when you're in the house.

quoted from The Cool Hunter:
National Geographic Channel have created a real-life version of the animated film Up — launching a house thousands of metres into the air using balloons.

7.2.11

unconventional

other universities probably wouldn't want to brand themselves like what Andrew Townsend did for NTU Arts & Design College simply coz those power people who owns the university will think that this type of branding is immature. i say it rocks! it's honest, bold, daring and most importantly, colourful :D

store selling stories

would want to stay in this Shibuya Booksellers for hours reading those books. probably would build the racks myself in my own house if i have the money. the store was designed by Hiroshi Nakamura and NAP Architects. displayed on Designboom.

look at my new label: Architecture.

loopy tower

London Olympic Tower By Anish Kapoor

quoted from Designyearbook:
A spiraling red tower, dubbed "Orbit," designed by Turner prize-winning artist Anish Kapoor was named the winner of the competition to design the new “Olympic Tower” for the upcoming 2012 Olympic Games in London. As Britain biggest piece of public art, the 394-foot snaking steel tower will allow people to climb, giving a spectacular view of London.

so soft yet so hard

those are the words that filled up my mind when i saw these wooden textile made by Elisa Strozyk.

quoted from Yatzer:
By carefully binding the wood veneers to fabric she is able to create an experience of multiplicity and blur the qualities of how a textile is perceived to behave and function. Her work brilliantly demonstrates the dimensionality and tactile experience a fabric can have. As it lays flat within a space or folds with a piece of furniture, the wooden textiles show us a new direction and fresh vision.

Solar Decathlon House - Ithaca, New York

i've never seen a bench like this before.. looks comfy and environmental friendly. but, what if you have a cat or a dog and they like to poop on it? defeats the purpose isn't it..? from Blue Ant Studio.
