Save Electreecity!

Save Electreecity Campaign from mein melon on Vimeo.

i gotta say, this is one campaign that i'll never be tired of doing or fed up with. we've worked hard for it and it might not be THE best stop motion video or copywrite ever, but we did made a point of doing something different from what people expect we will do. we've definitely come out from our comfort zone by doing this tedious, exhilarating yet fun and less-typical approach on the global warming issue.

we hope that you enjoy viewing this rapid 37 seconds video as much as we enjoyed producing it. well, actually, we were only given 30 secs to make the video like everybody else, but, if we do that, maybe the message we want to tell wouldn't be understood well enough. we've put our best efforts in creating every detail of the video. oh! you HAVE to turn up the volume higher to feel the impact of the video, well, we hope so :)

here are some details on the campaign and video:

Our Mission
We are committed to educate the young minds about global warming and give them ideas on what causes global warming as well as telling them what they can do to stop it. It is simple. Reduce electricity usage, save the trees, save the Earth bits by bits from global warming. By using less energy, fewer amount of heat will be released into the atmosphere. This can save the trees, the most important living thing that help the continuing of normal process of the biological balance of nature.

It is time to stop being ignorant towards the planet we are living it.

The Idea behind the TV Commercial
We used toys to picture the situation of global warming in our TVC to show that people don’t treat global warming issue seriously. People know about the problem but, they don’t act like they do. The Bearbrick represents the ignorant, selfish and careless society of the youths today. The Bearbrick used an excessive amount of electricity by turning on the PC, radio, air-conditioner, television and all the other home appliances without turning them off when they’re not in use. This causes a short circuit to happen at the climax of the video, where all of the light bulbs burst as a result of overheating. In the end, what happens inside the house indirectly effects the area surrounding it, namely the environment. This means that the excessive use of electrical appliances especially the air conditioner emits noxious gases to the environment which encourages global warming. At the end of the video, the whole scene of the house is covered in a shade of red to depict the heat effect the Earth is taking in.

The Logo

The logo is an integration between electricity and a tree. There is a small opening on the top which resembles the piggybank hole. The logo basically says “save electricity, save the trees too”. The negative space besides the trees is shaped to look like a lightning bolt, which gives hint of ‘power’. The hierarchy of the lightning bolt, the tree, the root of the tree and the word ‘save’ clinging onto the roots of the tree is signifying that saving the electricity generates an a more eco-friendlier source of power and it is a root towards a better environment. The word ‘save’ is stylized to become a part of the wire to stress on the main message of the campaign which is save the electricity. The tree is a very important element of the logo too as without it, the reason for us pursuing this campaign could not be shown. We choose a more pointy tree to be used on the logo because the edges of the tree resembles the shape of a lightning bolt, which we use to symbolize electricity.

forgetfull perfume

spray to forget perfume

if only such thing exists..

quoted from Swissmiss:
SPRAY TO FORGET functions as a beneficial editor for one’s consciousness, removing undesired memories from the user’s psyche via supported intent. Reed Seifer proposes that “in order to forget, we must remember something else. Spray to Forget acts as a conceptual sideways-elevator, nudging the unconscious to release a difficult memory and replace it with a more appealing one, or to create a new memory through experience… It also happens to smell quite good.”

this wall looks like those stripey revolving billboards you can see on the streets, right..? imagine it is in your house, rotating colours of your wall all day. fun!

quoted from Gizmodo:
See this wall of colorful squares? It's actually a concept design consisting of a bunch of small triangular panels which can be spun 'round on whim to change the way your room looks. Or to spell out naughty things.

Luvstitch's doll house for Save Electreecity PSA

we're currently building this miniature house for our MI PSA TVC. wow. lots of abbreviations there.. our first job for Media Innovation this sem is to make a Public Service Announcement TV Commercial for Global Warming. we didn't choose the topic. the topic chose us. i have to say, i wasn't expecting to do global warming all over again coz we've done this topic during our first sem in Alpha. it's like deja-vu and DF all over again. but, me n Ecah had so much fun building the dollhouse! we're gna make a stop motion video of Luvstitch, my Bearbrick turning on all of the electrical stuff inside the house. you'll see why, on our coming video. wait for it!

She also wears a neon-colored T-shirt with a binary code pattern and carries a smartphone and a Bluetooth headset. Her hot pink glasses will come in handy during late nights coding on her hot pink laptop.

uuh.. like i care.. it doesn't even look that hot anyway. but, it does give a thought for all the girly girls out there who wants to be nothing more than a thin model to get away from bimbo land and become a computer nerd instead.. got the news from Notcot.

srot sret srooott sreett

took a short trip around the blogomosphere just now after 3 days disappearing from it. turns out most of my friends didn't post anything at all this 4 days holiday. my guess is that they are having a really busy or fun holiday. i mean, it WAS Chinese New Year and Valentine's Day. oh, before i forget, Happy Chinese New Year and Valentine's Day :)

my other theory for this (why people don't really want to be online or update their virtual life on the net on holidays) is because, well for me, it's the holiday la weyh.. i don't want to be cling on to my Cami when i can enjoy my life at home, watching all the movies and tv shows i can watch, doing nothing for the whole freaking FOUR DAYS! i have no shame on doing that because for the past 3 years, i've been spending my days doing works that introduces me to headaches, acne, oily face, dandruff, major stress tumor in my brains that i've never ever get to endure when i was in high school! so, i earn the right to just lay down on my comfy cushy sofa and watch all the sappy cheesy romantic comedy movies on Star World and HBO for this FOUR DAYS. "oooh, it's the Valentine's Day.. we must show only love stories on our channel.." probably that's what they're thinking when it comes to Valentine's Day. do you even know what Valentine's Day means....?? well, i don't even wna go there sebab bosanla cter psal Valentine's Day ni. some of us don't even celebrate this so-called lovey-duvey day. speaking of Valentine's Day, have you watched the movie "Valentine's"?? well, for one, the title's stupid. number two, today's love story have to just evolve around sex and predictable "i must chase that oh-so-incredible-beautiful-no-one's-like-her-in-the-world-girl or my life would be ruined" storyline, is it? coz that's what i saw in that movie. although, Ashton Kutcher still remains "the most romantic and funny actor of romantic comedy ever" in my heart :) and the movie's trailer's SHORT and SUCKS!

as a matter of fact, i don't get to just lay down doing nothing on my comfy couch, focusing on what's gna happens next in "What Happens in Vegas" coz i'm having this stupid never ending flu + cough + sore throat + fever while doing MI's storyboard and sketching the campaign's logo. not that i don't wna do it, it's just painful, you know. being sick and have to go through this sem and all. I HATE BEING SICK!!! although, it kind of give me the chance to redeem my past sins and have the opportunity of getting something good out of this bad circumstances. i know it's ujian from God and i have no other choice to get through it but, IT'S SOOOOO ANNOYING!!! i wna get better and do my works without having to wipe off my flu sliming down my nose all the time.

i talk and feel crappy when i'm sick. so, deal with it! AARGGHH!!

365 Bears

i envy those people who can stand up doing what they had promise to do that's definitely what they love the most for every single day of the year. for me, i tried taking pictures of myself wearing whatever i wear everyday. tu pun, i didn't take it EVERYday. why? maybe i'm just too caught up with work. or maybe procrastination can answer the question. or maybe laziness could be the REAL answer to that. i just wish i have the determination like Julius Santiago here, posting new illustrations of bears everyday. it's such a simple thing to do. why can't you do that, Mein?

here are the ones that i like the most form the collection:
